Preschool Resolutions

We have had such a great 2011 – but I was really unintentional about our time.  This year I will make 10 “preschool resolutions” !!to enjoy more “just because” moments

to try new things

to relax more

to play more

to snuggle more

to smile more – especially when the camera isn’t on

to find new places to explore

to take the time, because I’m not too busy for him

and pace myself – this is a journey not a sprint

to always remember & cherish these moments – every single one of them !

Are you making some preschool resolutions ?

Happy New Year Preschool Friends – thanks Jolanthe for creating this community and always giving my boys something fun to do !!

Easy Kid Friendly Christmas Crafts

I am not a “crafter”.   I grew up a tom boy – playing outside or fighting crime as Wonder Woman.

Crafts and I are not a good mix.  I still don’t know how to get that long stringy hot glue strand to stop sticking to all our stuff.  But my kids LOVE crafts.  And therefore – we craft.

This Christmas we’re getting REAL crafty !  However – Pinterest has some out of this world crafts we’ll never be able to do this side of heaven … so I’m improvising with the supplies we have on hand and my limited crafting ability!

Snowman

Start with white contstruction paper, draw 3 circles (outside of duct tape, inside, and spray glue can), glue cotton balls to bottom 2 circles, cut out top hat & nose. Glue on buttons, wiggle eyes, and tooth pick arms!

Snowflake

Lightly draw pencil snowflake on white construction paper. Hot glue beads – cut out & hang! (we moved them off the light and to the garland with the snowmen)

Christmas Trees

I did see this on pinterest, and ours turned out nothing like them – but they’re still cute!  Green washable paint, and paint inside star cookie cutter for top!

And that my friends – Works for me !!

Are You Counting Down – Christmas Projects!

I love the weeks leading up to Christmas and creating memories our boys will enjoy!

Paper Chains have been a long tradition in our home – back to when my mom put them on our bedroom doors.  In our home, before we staple the chain together – on the back side of each paper chain we write a person’s name or friend’s family.  We jumble all the papers up – then link them together – adding the dates last.  Each night we tear off a chain we check out the back to see who we’re going to pray for that night. (I wanna say I got the prayer idea from my best friend Carin)

We spend the evenings leading up to Christmas lifting up others.

During our homeschool days – in place of our bible curriculum – we have a great advent Adorenaments.

I purchased a 2ft fake tree – and every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday we read the many names of Jesus and add the appropriate ornament to the tree. (there are only 12)

For my youngest son I’ve picked up Truth in the Tinsel advent experience - its only $4.99 and the ornaments are super adorable and easy!

Together we’ll be altering my friend Tracie’s daily RAK advent to a weekly Random Acts of Kindness project, but please check it out on the Mod Squad Blog it is precious!
