Homeschool Super Power

This week the fun gals at the 2:1 Conference (ahem), wanted to ask the attendees a few questions to get to know each other before the conference in April.  So, we asked: What’s your Homeschool Super Power?
Homeschool Super Power

(wait!!  did you read that, APRIL! Time is running out purchase your ticket).

1. how long have you been blogging? homeschooling? which do you think is harder?
I’ve been blogging for over 5 years (which is like 10 human years), homeschooling the same, and … I think as my blog has grown that blogging is harder.  Which sounds ridiculous, but blogging is not as exciting as making play doh brains! <~ seriously I just wrote that, I can feel The Homeschool Scientist’s smirk.

2. If you were a superhero, what would be your homeschool super power?
What’s the “if” junk? Homeschool moms ARE superheroes!  Remember this hottie??

Snort, I haven’t seen those legs in a long time.  My super power would be planning lessons on the fly.  I mean, we sit down read something and I am capable of planning an entire mini unit study in 5 minutes.  Don’t ask me what we’re having for dinner, but I’ve got our lessons covered!  I can connect the dots and put it all together, and do it pretty good too.  I don’t know how it works, but I am always coming up with ways of incorporating the tactile projects that aren’t usually included in lessons.

You can just call me, The Tactile Tornado! Or not.

My most popular posts are tactile related, no surprise!
Lego Advent Pieces
Pumpkin Math Printable
Anatomy Skeleton Crafts

3. If you could go anywhere, besides the 2:1 Conference, where would be your dream “mom-cation”
Italy! I have always been itching to go to Florence and see the lovely architecture, spend days in museums, vineyards, and get lost!

4. What do you hope to “get out” of the 2:1 Conference
A giant pep rally with blogging friends who all homeschool … I’m betting I’m going to get encouragement.  I was blown away by the keynote speakers last year and felt overwhelmingly confident in what I was doing and empowered to keep running the race!  I have to say I wish I would have picked my break out sessions better; I went to friend’s sessions rather than what I needed to hear sessions.  But I loved cheering on everyone face-to-face.

Something personal to share … I should do more vlogs because people read tone into everything I write that truly was never there.  What can I say – I do not translate well online until you’ve seen the dorky mannerisms, goofy smiles, and hear the constant laughter.  Then you can hear me in my posts.  All 3 conferences I’ve attended at least one person has told me, “now I get you”.  And then they all love me!!

Offline: sounds like the Matrix, but it feels like that some days I love to read, play tennis, and take nature photos. Our family travels together as much as possible and we do outdoor things like camp, hike, wakeboard, etc. Sunday nights I lead a small group for high school 9th grade girls.

What is your homeschool super power?  Are you going to the 2:1 Conference?  I can’t wait to meet! I’ll be the loud one laughing & hugging everyone … and maybe wearing boots!
