Tactile Tuesday – Crafts

If you have a tactile child - incorporate crafts into different subjects not just once per week.

I have a homeschool friend who tells me, “you’re so fun you do all those crafts.  We only do crafts … once in awhile”.  Once in a while will not be enough for tactile learners!

Crafts are fun.  Crafts are decorative.  Crafts help teach lessons.  Crafts are also great because they help …

exercise fine motor skills
engage creativity
require directions (listening & following)
result in quality time

Now when you say crafts can do all that – crafts sound like a must do every day!

Crafts aren’t just for little preschool children!  Hands-on kids enjoy crafts at any age! (ask hubs).

Crafts are not about the end result winning you some Pinterest award.  Sorry.

But you’re not crafty? I get that! Basic craft supplies are not expensive.  Buy them on sale and keep them in a storage container.  Not sure what to get? Read my post for The Supply Bin – tips for the non-crafty mom (ahem, me)

  2. I linked up an Instagram pic of my son’s watercolor bird painting. He draws the picture and then colors it with water color crayons. He then uses water and a paint brush over the crayon. I love how it turns out!

I would like to write a post on how to use water color crayons. Maybe for next week.

Thanks for pointing out that some kids need more crafts. Mine definitely thrive with hands on activities.

I love your pumpkins. They are so cute!

Love it I have been sharing some things about crafting over at my blog too. A couple weeks ago I shared my 10 favorite craft supplies http://www.kathysclutteredmind.com/2012/09/top-10-favorite-craft-supplies.html and last week I shared places I get craft ideas for FreeBEE Fridays http://www.kathysclutteredmind.com/2012/10/freebee-fridays-free-craft-idea.html.

I totally agree that crafting is such an important thing for children especially tactile learners. I will be linking up probably tomorrow.
