I hope you will enjoy these fun Jonah activities I created for both my boys! So often I have taught this story focusing on Jonah’s disobedience rather than God’s mercy and grace!
Jonah Activities
J for … Jonah worksheet (act out the “j” words & color them in)

List examples and your kids jump on either the right way or the wrong way tiles. (ex. “There is only one cookie left, so you snatch it, run to your room, and eat it in the closet”. WRONG WAY!)
Follow the path

Practice fine motor skills and keep on the trail to get to your other “fish friend”. (for older kids create a map around the house / playground and have someone else follow the steps!)

Play Mommy Says – obedience is doing it, “right away, all the way, and with a happy heart”.
Jonah Word Hunt ~ created for my 9yr old

Or for younger kids …

Dart Gun Forgiveness.

Draw a person – hang him up – and shoot him with dart guns. This is what Jonah believed the Ninevites deserved because he judged them with a human heart. Even though he was obedient to finally go to Nineveh – he didn’t think they deserved God’s forgiveness. However- God wiped their sins clean when they turned from their evil ways!
Watch: Jonah – A VeggieTales Movie (don’t forget to eat Gold Fish!)
Great activities do not have to come in a curriculum book! A little time, some effort, and a lot of fun can turn all bible stories into a week of fun hands-on-learning!

We’re getting ready to go see Jonah this Thursday at the Sight & Sound Theater, I’m going to let the children work on the word searches during the drive! Thanks for sharing.
Great ideas. Love the variety of quiet and busy activities. Will keep your ideas in mind if we study Jonah:)
We’re actually studying Jonah in 2 weeks, perfect timing.
