#b90days 21 Days – Monday link up!

MomsToolbox

Very excited and encouraged by the reading this week!  I love getting back into the history because I get so lost in the genealogy of it all.  Saturdays and Sundays the reading is put off until evening – and its a double dose, but we get going and busy I just don’t have the discipline to read over the weekend.  Thankfully – Sunday nights are great for catching up on an extra day of reading.  As we fly into August I’m thinking – wow October is right around the corner.  Just keep reading ~ 69 days left.

A few thoughts from the last few days  …
Day 19 – Ruth 1:22
So Naomi returned from Moab accompanied by Ruth the Moabite, her daughter-in-law, arriving in Bethlehem as the barley harvest was beginning. (God’s timing is beautiful)

Day 20 – 1 Samuel 10:6-7 The Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person.Once these signs are fulfilled, do whatever your hand finds to do, for God is with you. vs 9 As Saul turned to leave Samuel, God changed Saul’s heart, and all these signs were fulfilled that day. (I want that kind of change)
1 Samuel 15:22
To obey is better than sacrifice

Day 21 – 1 Samuel 16:12
He was glowing with health” (David)1 Samuel 17:48 David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him (Goliath. Do I run toward the battle or pray my way out of it for comfort’s sake).

1 Samuel 25:33 May you be blessed for your good judgment (Abigail.  Twice in this chapter it states “Abigail quickly” – I’m feeling like she wasn’t one to be lazy.  A wise decision maker is confident)

July Wrap Up

I can not believe July is almost over !!  I’m thrilled because who wants more summer in Florida?  But really, August already??

This week …

PRESCHOOL – we did a cute little random B unit study.  We read The Bear Who Shared, The Story of Ferdinand, created a toilet paper bear, and colored in B Do-A-Dots.  (it is amazing what you can throw together for free homeschool stuff)  And after all that ba, ba, B – the boy says, “ba, ba, SHARK”!

I’m starting to get a bit concerned because the boy is not sleeping well.  As in going to bed at 8pm, still up at 10pm, coming into my room at 12am, and again at 4am.  And only taking an hour nap during the day.  I’m trying to teach the – roll over and go back to bed – rather than come wake me up rule.
3rd GRADE -
After a year of swimming 4 days a week / 1.5 hours per day … the boy won a silver medal in the breast stroke and a bronze in the butterfly at the swim championships! (between 12-18 kids his age in each heat)

He also came in 5th for freestyle and 6th for IM (but he could care less about those ribbons).  Once he got the medals he looked at us and said, “I’m ready to play soccer next”.  So – we have a one sport per season rule and it looks like we’ll be at an Upwards field come September.

As far as school - we’re cruising completing at least 4 subjects per day – and if we have time rounding out the afternoons with either Science or History.  Since the boy had art camp (1-3pm everyday) we missed out on a few things.  I am so loving our Discover 4 Yourself ~ Wrong Way Jonah bible study.  I am reviewing it for The Homeschool Village next Sat. I learn so much from them!

Weight Loss –  This is not a week to count points.  I forgot to take the boy to art camp one day, was late the next, missed a playdate with one of my favorite people, forgot to call back my best friend, deleted a whole list of postcard addresses … I forgot where I put down my brain.

3in30 August Goals

3in30 Challenge

I have to be honest here and tell you … when I 1st heard of 3 in 30 back in January I thought sure, that’ll last until … February!  And here its almost August and I’m joining again to set three goals for this month.

As I’m sitting down with a list of goals - picking out three is like trying to decide which social media I should use!  This past month I’ve been introduced to Klout, LinkedIn (not really social media), and now Google Plus.

God continues to remind me John 10:10 “the thief comes only to steal and to kill and to destroy ..” Any more time I spend on the computer is time stolen from my boys, my hubs, and my home.  Not to mention the confusion and time it takes to “keep up” with the Joneses.  I’m just as happy not to even try.

After a little prayer and just asking God to give me a word … He has given me 3 to contemplate.

Rest.  This word has come to me like a water balloon KABOOM and explodes on my head.  I am desperate for rest.  A good night’s sleep (getting to bed before 2am), rest from toil, rest from thinking (or thinking of the next thing)  … just calm peacefulness and enjoy the calm waters of rest.
Joy.  This was my last blog’s title – Layton Family Joy … and I feel like I have less joy now than ever.  I’m not certain why I feel so uptight and bent out of shape, sure I do.  Family.  Extended family has caused a bit of stress on both sides and I’m ready to find the joy even in those difficult times and keep this word close to my heart least I allow it to be stolen.  The thinking of the family and what is next steals my joy and my rest.  Joshua is full of “do not be discouraged”with joy discouragement is impossible.

Persist.  I have made so many lists and plans – I have yet to follow one fully.  I would like to persist this month and finish one planner / schedule.  Persist – to continue steadfastly or firmly in some state, purpose, course of action, or the like, especially in spite of opposition, remonstrance, etc.: to last or endure tenaciously.  I am notorious for giving up on something (or someone).
These goals might be a little odd – as far as not being able to “calculate” success.  But they are what I’m striving for this month! This is what I believe the Lord has put on my heart to strive towards.
